Real Life Church 2012

We are so excited to have Real Life Church back in the Dominican. Their partnership with the nutrition center in The Hole is a vital part of the ministry there. Real Life is such an encouragement to Pastor Felix and his wife, Jenny, and it is such an honor to have these awesome servants of God here among us!

Real Life is working at the site of the old Hoya del Caimito church. This year, a new medical facility will be going on the land and there was still quite a bit of demolition left to do in preparation for the facility's foundation.

One of the best traditions that take place while Real Life is in the Dominican, is they take the kids from the nutrition center in The Hole to eat ice cream at a place called Bon. The kids have a great time playing on the playground and enjoying the fellowship with the Americans while eating delicious ice cream, a treat they don't get often, if ever.

VBS in The Hole was a sweet time of learning about Jesus, playing with kids and creating with crafts. The kids have enjoyed all this extra attention from a group who truly cares for them and their well-being.

Momentum Christian Church 2012

G.O. Ministries would like to welcome Momentum Christian Church to the Dominican! Momentum will be working alongside partner, Eduard Gabriel, and doing construction on the Central Church. We are excited that they have returned and grateful they are here to serve the people of this island!

Today, Momentum worked at the Central Church in Hoya del Caimito. The church si going to be expanded about ten feet to accommodate a bigger sanctuary above, which meant demolition of some previous planters.

Today, the team spent a significant amount of time in The Hole. They spent a lot of time speaking with pastor Felix, learning the ins and outs of his ministry there. It was a great time of encouragement, tears and speaking on redemption.

Vbs in The Hole was awesome. The group did a wonderful reenactment of the story of David and Goliath. Here, David's friends were trying to keep him from fighting Goliath. At the end, when David killed Goliath, all the kids from The Hole stood up and cheered!

Women's Conference~Conferencia de Damas!

Last night we welcomed in women who will be helping with the annual Women's conference this year. These women are great supporters of Tim and Samira Krauss. The conference is for all women in the Dominican Republic and the numbers always reach up in to the hundreds! Please be praying for the Spirit of the Lord to fill women in this country as the conference is under way this Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
Tonight we welcomed Vicki Rogers(G.O. Staff), Susan Wiseman and Lisa Rich-Miller. They too are pumped and ready to share amongst the many women who will be attending the conference this weekend!

Indiana Wesleyan Men's Basketball Team

After a bit of delay the team has arrived safely. Pray for them as they build relationships with the G.O. Ministry Sports crew and continue their love and support to Will and Audrey Partin (G.O. Staff). Pray also for their night games against other Dominican teams.

WEDNESDAY: Today the guys leveled, tied rebar and poured concrete at Simon Abreu's gym. Simon is part of the Sports Outreach team and uses his gym as a ministry to the members that workout there.

THURSDAY: The group fed children at the Nutrition Center in Los Perez today! It was so great to see the guys serving the kids and making them smile. After the kids ate, they took them outside and played a game of sharks and minnows. Everyone had a blast!

FRIDAY: Each night, after working a full day of construction, the IWU boys have been playing games against the local talent here in Santiago. It's been a great opportunity for some competition as well as getting accustomed to Dominican culture through sports!

SATURDAY: The group headed down to The Hole to assist in protection the church foundation from erosion due to water and mudslides. The guys passed rocks about 50 yards into mesh cages, filling them up, essentially forming a barrier between the foundation and the river nearby.

The Ridge Community Church

The group has arrived. They are pumped and ready to spend a week with Pastor Felix and Jenny Abreu who are their partners. They are also going to be working on tearing down the old church to make room for G.O. Ministries Medical Facility. Pray for this team and the many people they will be sharing Christ with.

WEDNESDAY: First day of demolition began with a small ceremony celebrating a closing chapter and a new beginning. The Ridge, along with the Gabriel family, prayed thanksgiving over the old Calle 2 Church and Parsonage and blessings over the future Medical facility that will be built in its place.

THURSDAY: The group got to go down to The Hole today to feed the children in the nutrition center there. For the many new faces in this group, it was the first time experiencing the ministry their church supports. It was very special for them to love on the children and encourage Felix in his work.

FRIDAY: The real demolition began as the group took sledge hammers to the parsonage. The roof was taken off the old church and others were sorting and loading/unloading reusable items. It was a good day with a lot accomplished towards the next big project: the medical facility!

Northeast Christian Church

The group has arrived safely and will be spending the evening with Pastor Francisco Rodriguez (Rafelito) who has been a partner of Northeast for many years. Pray as this group is apart of a Dental Clinic, Construction and Children's Ministry. Also pray especially as part of the group heads to Haiti to work along side another partner of Northeast Pastor Lucner Jean Pierre. They will be working to prepare the area for future trips.

WEDNESDAY: The group began working on Pastor Eduard Gabriel's house today. They were "throwing concrete" or "fraguache" the outer walls in preparation of the smoothing concrete to go over it. It was a messy job, but by the end of the day they were pros!

THURSDAY: Today, the group began their medical/dental clinic in Los Guandules. Many patients from the community came to get dental work done, mostly extractions, as they do not have regular access to free dental care anywhere nearby. The clinic is a huge blessing to the people of Los Guandules.

FRIDAY: One of the Northeast team members, Leslie, held a children's ministry training session in the Central Church. She gave the Dominican leaders new ideas for keeping kids engaged as well as putting on skits to tell bible stories. Here David is about to kill Goliath!

We are thrilled to have Outreach here to continue their encouragement to Tim and Samira Krauss (G.O. Staff) and Wilby and Lisa Romain (Pastor/G.O. Staff). Please pray for them as they love and share Christ with the many they will be in contact with.

WEDNESDAY: Outreach started their day today with VBS's for children. This picture was taken outside of the Central Church where their dormitories are located.

THURSDAY: Today, baseball clinics began in El Guano. The team is doing an incredible job of teaching and training these young boys and being examples for Christ.

Hayworth Wesleyan Church

They are Here! We are all really excited for this group to get here and encourage Mike and Amanda Braisted (G.O. Staff). They will also be hanging out with Gregorio Tomas who is a pastor for G.O. Ministries in the mountains. Pray as they seek to be used in mighty ways!

WEDNESDAY: Today, Hayworth started working on the homes of Eduard Gabriel and Rene Rodriguez. They began cleaning out the houses in preparation for putting concrete on the walls. They were a great source of energy out on the construction site today!

THURSDAY: Today the group worked on fraguache! It's a Spanish term which basically means "covering a block wall with concrete." This work will help to keep water from leaking into the homes. The group was covered in concrete but had a great time doing it!

FRIDAY: Hayworth worked in a place called The Hole, today. They assisted the nutrition center staff by helping pass out food to the 120 children who eat there everyday. It was great to see this young group serving in such a big way!

SATURDAY: Today, the group drove two hours to Gregorio Tomas' community. They participated in a VBS and also passed out really cool backpacks to each of the children. The backpacks were made specifically for these kids by the Hayworth children who participated in their own VBS in this summer.

Starting Point

The group has arrived safely and got acquainted. We are so happy they are here and look forward to the lives that will be changed. Pray for them as they work with the children here through a soccer camp and children's ministry.

Today, the Starting Point group began their soccer clinics in Pontezuela. About 35 kids came from Romano's (one of the G.O. Pastors) church in downtown Santiago. They started their morning warming up and doing jogs across the field!

Today, the team fed at the nutrition center in the community of Los Perez. It was so great to see how excited all the kids were when they arrived. They finished their time there by teaching the kids "cups." Fun was had by all!

Today Starting Point wrapped up soccer camp in Pontezuela. Romano said that all of the kids have had so much fun with the group, both playing soccer and being a part of the afternoon VBS sessions. We're so glad Starting Point could be an encouragement to Romano and the people in his community.

Every afternoon, Starting Point did a VBS for the kids from Romano's new church plant. They told stories from the bible, had props to go with their skits and then did a craft to go with the story. The kids loved spending so much time with this group!

Eastview Christian Church Youth Group

It is a great feeling to have the Youth from Eastview here to love and support their partner Indriss Ivremond a Pastor with G.O. Ministries, Inc. Both groups have arrived safely. Please pray as they are Jesus' hands and feet this week.

The Eastview Youth Group began their work in Renewing the community of Pontezuela where their partner, Indriss, pastors. Many houses will be painted this week giving encouragement to the people of this community!

Today, the team did two more VBS's in Pontezuela. They taught the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and each child got to pretend they were fire. It was a crazy time of learning God's word and having a blast!

Today, the Eastview crew began constructing an office for Indriss inside of his church. This is such a great addition to his ministry, giving him the opportunity to have a place of his own to prep sermons, counsel broken hearts and spend solitary time with God.

70 people packed onto the stairs in The Hole. Today the youth group from Eastview moved more than 1,000 rocks, by hand, to the river near the church. These rocks are used to protect the church's foundation from the river when it floods. What an awesome day of champions!

The group has arrived safely. Moises and Romano (National's with G.O.) were all smiles this morning as they shared hugs and stories as if they had been hanging with Cross Point all week. We look forward to the redeeming, renewing and restoring that will take place. We also are excited to have Jeff and Vicki Rogers (G.O. Staff) and family with us down here as well. Welcome All!

Today, Cross Point started working on construction of Rene and Luis' homes (G.O.'s construction foremen). They passed block and sand up to the roof and began tying rebar cages for roof support.

Today, Cross Point was able to go and feed the children in the nutrition center at Brisas de Ocampo. Many of the team members were in awe of how amazing it is to see the completed church and see children being fed there. What a blessing!

Today, the team held a VBS at the church in Brisas de Ocampo. A game of duck, duck, goose became a favorite among all the kids!!!

Welcome River Valley

Welcome back to the Dominican Republic River Valley! It's nice to have them back and we're so excited about their hearts to serve. Please continue to pray for them as they work along-side of our Dominican and Haitian brothers and sisters.

Today, River Valley began working construction on Eduard Gabriel's (G.O.'s Dominican President) house. They mixed concrete and completed pouring all of the columns that will eventually support the second floor.

Today, the team fed children at the nutrition center in The Hole. It was great to see the group loving on the children and giving them the attention they so desperately need!

River Valley worked the day at the new home of Will and Audrey Partin. Will and Audrey are supported by River Valley and it was so great that the timing was perfect for River Valley to be a part of the next chapter in their lives.

The team held a field day in Hato del Yaque this afternoon. All the kids had a blast playing baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. They especially loved the balloons, jump-ropes and little games the team brought for them!

The group has arrived and all are doing well. They will be participating in a basketball clinic and we know much fruit will come from them being here this week.

Today, the group worked construction in Hato del Yaque, mixing concrete, tying rebar and laboring for our block layers.

They also helped feed the children in the nutrition center in Hato del Yaque. They are being such an encouragement to this community!

Today was the first day of the basketball clinic in Los Salados! Approximately 50 girls were participating in shooting, dribbling and passing drills and they even got an individual "All Star" photo taken!

Today was day two of the clinic in Los Salados. More girls came to the morning clinic and were able to join for the day. The girls said at the end of the day that it was the most fun they have ever had playing basketball.

After spending several days doing the basketball clinic, the team did children's ministry at Los Salados today. They told the story of Zacchaeus and had a coloring page and bracelet to make with the kids!

This team has returned to the DR to do a basketball clinic for the children of Hoya del Caimito and a dental clinic for the community has well. We know they will be a blessing to all they come in contact with. Please continue to pray for how God will use them this week!

The G.O. Basketball group had their first day of clinic kick off this morning. 160 campers were there and ready to go. Here, they all participate in the morning stretch!

Wednesday, June 29th, the Southeast Small Group went to work construction in Hoyo de Bartola. They had a lot of extra little "helpers!"

Feeding kids in The Hole after being a part of their community and working on protecting the church from possible flooding and erosion.

Moving rocks, by hand, into mesh cages to keep the rains from flooding the foundation the church in The Hole is built upon.

Today, the Southeast group had a day in Hato del Yaque. Playing and loving on kids in this community and assisting with the feeding program there.

The baseball group being led by Sam Hoehner arrived safely to the Dominican Republic late last night. Their flight was delayed and they were re-routed, but now they're here and excited to serve. Please pray for them this week as they serve along-side of the Nationals and as they remember their friend Tommy Barnes, who passed away last year.
There is no team picture of them since they arrived so late last night, there will be one posted as soon as we get one. Stay tuned!
